This page explains what information the site collects, why we collect it, who else sees it, and the choices you have. What we collect
Information you give us. When you use the contact form on this site, we receive your name, your email address, your phone number, and whatever you write in the message box. If you email or call us directly, we receive whatever you choose to send.
Property search activity. The property search on this site is run for us by a third-party listing service, iHomefinder. Search activity on that tool is handled by iHomefinder.
Technical information. Like almost every website, ours records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, the browser and device you used, the pages you opened, and when you opened them. This comes from our web host and from a performance monitoring service that runs on these pages.
Cookies. This site uses cookies and similar identifiers so the pages work. Our own pages do not run advertising or analytics trackers. The property search sets its own cookies, described in its own privacy notice.
How we use it
To answer your question, send you what you asked for, improve the site, keep records of our work with you, and meet our legal and licensing obligations. When you contact us about a property, we may follow up by email or phone.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run this site and serve you:
- iHomefinder, which provides the property search and receives your search activity.
- The multiple listing service behind the property data, as required by the rules that let us display it.
- Our web host, which stores the site and its logs, and the performance monitoring service that keeps the site running properly.
- Google, which supplies the fonts this site displays. Loading a font means Google sees your IP address.
- The inbox we use to reply to you.
- Anyone we are legally required to give it to, including a court, a regulator, or the real estate commission in the state where you are buying or selling.
If you ask us to, we will email you about properties and real estate matters. Marketing emails will include a way to stop. Replies to a question you sent us are not marketing, and you can tell us to stop emailing by writing to laurab@laurabyther.com. We do not buy contact lists or send messages to people who have not asked for them.
Text messages
If you text us, or if you give us your mobile number and tell us we may contact you that way, we keep the number and the messages you send so we can reply and follow up on your inquiry.
If we text you, message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP, and you can reply HELP if you need help. If you reply STOP, we will stop texting you and reach you by email or phone instead.
We do not sell your mobile number. We do not share it, or the fact that you agreed to receive text messages, with anyone else for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Inquiries and client records are kept for as long as we need them to serve you and to meet our legal and licensing requirements, then deleted or archived as records rules require. Search activity held by the listing service follows its own retention rules.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, including restricting who can see it. No website or email system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, so please do not send sensitive information such as social security numbers or bank details through the contact form.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing laurab@laurabyther.com. You can turn cookies off in your browser, though parts of the property search may stop working if you do.
Children
This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date at the bottom of this page.
